Rovaniemi: Traditional Sauna and Ice Swimming Experience
1.Traditional Sauna and Ice Swimming Experience
At Pajasauna near Rovaniemi, you spend 90 minutes in a private 1958 blacksmith’s sauna beside the Kemijoki River. Your host explains Finnish sauna customs, provides towels, clogs, water, and a hairdryer, then guides you between the wood-fired heat and an icy plunge. Killian and Anna are among the hosts praised for warm, practical help.

“Not ice swimming but actually an ice plunge pool - perhaps slightly misleading. This was completely private which made it so much better! The sauna was incredible and we were happy to sit in 100 degrees! The cold plunge was an experience to say the least but could feel the benefits! Killian was lovely and introduced us to his dog afterwards and walked with us around the frozen lake. This small touch meant so much and it was breathtaking to see the raw beauty of Lapland! We learnt so much about Finnish culture from Killian!”
